Q&A with Jacqueline Rowling, a holistic therapist and founder of Ruah Organic, a spa sanctuary on the South Coast of NSW

Life is all about intention – it’s the best way to show up as your most authentic, beautiful self in this world.

What are you doing in the current season of your life?

Hello, I’m the owner and sole therapist at Ruah Organic, a holistic skin spa nestled in the peaceful town of Bulli, NSW. At my spa, I offer a range of skin and body treatments designed to nourish and rejuvenate. But beyond my work, there’s a lot that makes my days feel rich, full and grounded.

Do you have mindful practices you return to, seasonally or daily?

Every morning, I make it a habit to jot down a few things I’m grateful for in my journal. It’s a quiet ritual that sets a positive tone for the day. And in the evenings, I wind down with a peaceful moment outside, usually with my dog, Banjo, by my side. Before I go to sleep, I reflect on the highlights of my day, no matter how small they may seem. This daily practice keeps me present and thankful.

One of the things I absolutely love is my skin rituals. There’s something so grounding about taking the time to apply skincare while practicing positive affirmations. It’s a little moment of self-care that I truly cherish.

What’s on your Spotify list?

Country music runs deep in my veins—it’s part of who I am! I grew up in a Country music family, and we’d travel every year to the Tamworth Country Music Festival, where we’d busk on the streets. One year, I even earned enough to buy a mandolin, which I still have today. It’s metallic aqua blue (and, to be honest, a little out of tune 😂).

What’s your list of food cravings?

As for food, I’m all about hearty, home-cooked meals. My go-to breakfast is eggs, I love wraps for lunch and a roast for dinner. While I’m not big on sweets, there’s one thing that’s my ultimate weakness: a tub of ice cream. Let’s just say, I’ve been known to finish one all on my own!

Any books or podcasts you’d recommend?

When it comes to podcasts, I’m all over the place depending on my mood. Some of my favourites include On-Conscious, Diary of a CEO, Happy Hour and The Ageing Project. For a good read, I highly recommend What’s My Body Telling Me? by Dr Anthea Todd. It’s full of insights and wisdom that really resonate with me.

Do you like crystals? Which ones are you drawn to?

A favourite stone of mine is Rose Quartz — its soft, pastel pink hue speaks to my soul. There’s something so calming and feminine about it.

What keeps you well?

My personal mantra: Do all things with INTENTION. It’s the best way to show up as your most authentic, beautiful self in this world. Creativity fuels my vitality, but I also know that setting boundaries is essential to maintain my mental and emotional wellbeing. I need time and space to restore and recharge so I can tap into my full creative potential.

What are you looking forward to this year?

As the weather in Australia warms up, I’m eagerly looking forward to more ocean swims! My goal this summer is to get back on a surfboard and embrace everything the ocean has to offer.
